The prohibition considered unfair, then perform the marriage ceremony a secret Valentine. When he was caught, love legendary priest was sentenced to death. Tragically, the priest was beheaded in public for refusing to denounce the name of Christ. February 14 defined the church as a day to honor the heroic life.

According to assistant vice president of Saint Joseph University in Philadelphia Philip Florio, Valentine's name was associated with romantic love until the 14th century when Geoffrey Chaucer put into the St. Valentine's Day love poem "The Parliament of Fowls'. The next Valentine's Day was associated with heroism and romantic love for centuries.
